Thank God I Have a PC
I know... you're thinking "Whither the JuBu of old? Just days ago, Buddha, you were ogling PowerBooks." You're right.
But the first thing in my Gold BoxTM at Amazon is an iPod. $250. Heart aflutter, I thought about the Channukah money burning a hole in my pocket. Alas, it's the Mac iPod.
Incompatibility trumps fiscal irresponsibility and geekiness.
For what it's worth, I think the Gold BoxTM is brilliant. It's the first (and only) gimmick that has made me regularly visit an e-commerce site when I wasn't planning/researching a purchase. It makes Amazon recreation. I might miss something if I don't check. And yes, I have purchased something from it.

For some reason my GoldBox thinks I have a "thing" for powertools and gas grills. I would visit my gold box more often if it held Ipods and shiny geek toys. Alas, I think my GoldBox is demographically challenged.

For a while, I was getting nose-hair trimmers and power tools on a regular basis. It was very disconcerting.
After the holidays, though, it seems to be heavily bent towards electronics (though lots of it is off-brand) and kitchen gear. And even some media. Very fun. I accidentally passed a good price on the Willie Wonka anniversary DVD because I was lulled into thinking most Gold Box stuff was junk. Oops.
