So That Happened
The road trip was fantastic. Highlights include relaxing on the rocks and eating breakfast while watching the sun rise in Arches, getting off the road most traveled in Yellowstone, seeing a buffalo in the wild in Badlands, getting pizza at Gino's East, an unplanned walk through Cabrini Green (ok, that wasn't a highlight, but it was an adventure), and making a midnight run from Rochester, NY down to DC. Photos to come.
The new apartment is simply awesome. We have more space than we can afford to furnish right now, but over time we should be able to fill it in nicely. We definitely have room for guests, so if you're in the Capital, drop me a line.
Back in DC, the aforementioned law school rush took place last week. Over 5 days, I had 18 interviews. The interviews themselves were fine. In fact, some were quite pleasant. The week as a whole, however, was rough. At the hotel where all the interviews were held, they hadn't heard of air conditioning. The atmosphere was less than pleasant... hundreds of really tense law students sitting around, sweating, making small talk to avoid confronting the enormity of the situation or each other head on. When the interviews themseleves finally ended each day, the meet'n'greet receptions began. On Tuesday, my first interview was at 9:40am, and I didn't get home from the last reception until about 10pm. Then I had to prepare for the five interviews I had the next day, the first of which was at 9. No one part of the week was that bad, but it was definitely exhausting by the end.
It's all worthwhile, however, when you get that first phone call. Friday afternoon, after my last interview of the week, one of the firms I interviewed with at the beggining of the week called. In a few weeks, I'll be on a plane to the west coast for my second round interviews.
So that pretty much sums up the last few weeks. Except I left out the part where my car got stolen lost on Friday. But other than that, you're up to date.
