Not So Famous Amos
Cookies are my specialty. I make more better cookies than pretty much anyone I know. Two friends from Boston are pretty much even with me, and Mom can still do it better, but that's about it. And people know this. People here know my cookies. Every year, they have a big charity auction at school to raise money for people doing summer internships with nonprofit groups. I donated a month-long, bottomless cookie jar. For one month, the winner can get all the homemade cookies he can eat. All it takes is an email, and I'll bring the cookies to school the next day.
Despite my reputation and the bonus good taste that comes with donating to a good cause, it didn't raise as much as I'd hoped.

Man. I would have donated at least $50 for such a treat, and I don't even eat cookies regularly.
you could have auctioned off a "guest spot" on Jubu. That would have been interesting.
BTW, buddha's cookies are great, but I recommend the buddha burger for all you carnivores.

Wow, they don't know what they are missing. Your cookies RULE (along with many of your other culinary creations).
I donated a bottomless cookie jar last year to our company raffle and the CEO won. The man went thru cookies like they were going out of style. Hope your winner is less of a hungry hungry hippo.

Purely and issue of advertising. I had no idea your cookies were on the silent auction block. Then again, I really had no idea what was on the silent auction block until everything was said and done. Shame. The cookies would have been a good backup given my lack of success on other auction related fronts.

$50 was my target, but they ended up going for $41. Still, it's $41 more than the auction would have gotten without the cookies, and I get to do a lot of baking for a month. The winner told me he wants fresh chocolate chip cookies every day for a month. I can arrange that.

So do you do the frosted or sugared cookie cuttered best eaten frozen sugar cookies - because if you do I so would have gone well into the 3 digits on the bidding.

Funny, I was thinking recently that I've never actually made sugar cookies (or at least not in recent memory) and that I should find a recipe and give them a shot.

Well, you should be pleased that you were part of the largest EJF ever - $45,000 raised ($12K through the silent auction). Last year, they funded 84 students (about 30-40 weren't funded), with a take of $40,000, so here's hoping that everyone who needs funding can work pro-bono for the summer!

My most recent Cooks Illustrated came with a recipe that they say is the ultimate incarnation of the sugar cookie. I haven't tested it yet, but plan but am happy to send you a copy if you want. Happy baking!
