With No Further Ado
Celebrity Judge Richard Posner* and Nobel Prize-winning economist Gary Becker recently started a weblog. Most other weblogs linked to it a while ago (even though they didn't start posting real commentary until two days ago), so it's not really news. But it gives me the opportunity to introduce it with this AIM conversation from yesterday:
buddha: http://www.becker-posner-blog.com/
roommate: I thought it was in reference to the TV show "becker" first
buddha: no. posner is in the blogosphere** now
roommate: yes, I know
buddha: not sure which would be more interesting though
roommate: a combination "becker" and posner blog would be hilarious
[...]
roommate: I think it would be a great miniseries
roommate: "Hilarity ensues when we pair up a federal appellate judge, known for his law and economics approach, with TV's lovable Becker"?
buddha: genius
Both authors are brilliant, so the weekly discussions should be interesting and thought-provoking, even if you don't generally subscribe to the Law & Econ school.
* By "celebrity judge" I don't mean to invoke the Judge Judy image. Rather, for those in the legal field, Judge Posner is something of a big name. He writes about every imaginable subject, and can at least pretend to be an authority on most. He does this outside of his busy schedule as Judge and professor, so it's quite impressive.
** I hate the word "blogosphere" with a passion and am mildly embarrassed to have found myself using it in a non-mocking context.
