Good People Do Exist
Last year I donated a month-long bottomless cookie jar to the Equal Justice Foundation's annual charity auction. It turned out to be a lot of cookies and a difficult schedule to keep up with while taking classes, working on a journal, and the like. To keep it manageable this year, the highest bidder receives a batch of cookies every week for the entire spring semster. It went for $75, almost twice what the similar prize had sold for the previous year.
A prof bought the cookies for his weekly seminar. When I dropped off the first batch of chocolate chip cookies, I asked how big the class was. I doubled the cookie recipe to account for this the next week -- more than one person has said recently that law school should include more cookies, and I'm trying to make that a reality. The professor emailed to thank me for the cookies and said that because I had doubled the amount of cookies, he had doubled his donation to the EJF. Sweet!
