Demoralizing

Today is possibly the most beautiful day since I became a 3L. In addition to glorious weather, the cherry blossoms are at peak bloom, which is fantastic given that a few weeks ago it seemed they'd never arrive at all. I'd really like to go outside and enjoy it all, but, as Heidi notes, "outside writes no seminar papers."

That's the insult. The underlying injury is discovering that not only is my paper topic not novel, it's so far from novel that one of the most prominent constitutional law scholars in the world wrote a book making my point. Five years ago. And I managed not to notice this book in my research until now.

I can't wait to graduate.
